washington The U.S. Coast Guard presumes five occupants of the Titan submersible dead. In Boston on Thursday, spokesman John Mogg said he offered his deepest condolences to the families of the victims.

Wreckage found near the wreck of the Titanic is said to belong to a missing mini-submarine. This proves that the five missing people have no chance of surviving.

According to operating company OceanGate Expeditions, the passenger may have died. The company said the individuals are presumed dead.

The Coast Guard previously reported that a submersible robot encountered a “debris field” in the operating area. It first said it would analyze the information. The submersible has been missing since Sunday morning (local time).

The “Titan” carried five people on board to the wreck of the “Titanic” that sank in 1912 at a depth of about 3,800 meters. About 1 hour and 45 minutes after the dive began, contact with the mother ship was lost.

Troops search 26,000 square kilometers for submersible ‘Titan’

In the area of operation about 700 kilometers south of the Canadian island of Newfoundland, rescue teams from the United States and Canada have begun a massive search at the surface and in the depths of the ocean. Ships, aircraft, remote-controlled underwater vehicles, diving robots and other equipment have been used.

Until recently, the U.S. Coast Guard promised not to give up and would use all available means to find the Titan and its crew. The troops searched an area of about 26,000 square kilometers. That’s bigger than the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

There was hope for now after a loud knock was heard. But on Thursday, an underwater vehicle spotted the debris field on the ocean floor.

The submersible included Stockton Rush, CEO of operating company OceanGate Expeditions, British entrepreneur and adventurer Hamish Harding, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawu Shahzada Dawood, his son Suleman, and French Titanic expert Paul-Henry Nargeolet.
