How to write articles using ChatGPT

One of the biggest standout features of the artificial intelligence tool ChatGPT, which has more than 100 million users within two months of its launch, is the ability to compose all kinds of text in seconds, including songs, poems, bedtime stories and articles.

Contrary to popular belief, ChatGPT can do more than just write you an article (which is considered plagiarism). Even more useful is how it can help you guide the writing process. In this article, we’ll cover how to use ChatGPT for writing and assistance, as well as some other useful writing tips.

How to write articles using ChatGPT

How ChatGPT can help you write articles?

If you’re looking for ways to use ChatGPT to support your writing, here are five different ways you can explore.

It’s also not worth starting, if you have access to Bing Chat, or even Google Bard, you can use the same trick below on your AI chatbot. Because Bing Chat and Google Bard are online, they can contain current event sources and context. If you’re choosing between these two chatbots for writing articles, we recommend Bing Chat.

1. Use ChatGPT to generate article ideas

Before you start writing an essay, you need to flesh out the idea. When the professor arranges the paper, he usually gives the students a hint to give them space to express and analyze. Thus, students are given the task of finding their own angles to approach the essay.

If you’ve written an article lately, you know that this step is often the hardest part – and that’s where ChatGPT can help.

All you need to do is enter the topic of the assignment, include as many details as you want – like what you want to cover – and let ChatGPT do the rest. For example, based on a paper prompt I had in college, I asked:

Can you help me come up with topic ideas for this assignment, “You are going to write a research paper or case study on a leadership topic of your choice.” I would include Blake and Mouton’s executive leadership network, and possibly a history figure.

Within seconds, the chatbot generated a response that provided me with the title of the article, a selection of historical figures to focus on for my article, insight into what information I could include in my essay, and where I could Specific case study examples used.

2. Create an outline with a chatbot

Once you have a solid topic, it’s time to start brainstorming what you really want to include in your essay. To make the writing process easier, I always create an outline including all the different points I want to touch on in the essay. However, the process of writing an outline is often tedious.

3. Use ChatGPT to find resources

Now that you know exactly what to write about, it’s time to find reputable sources for your information. If you don’t know where to start, like all the previous steps, you can ask ChatGPT directly.

All you have to do is ask him to find sources for your article topics. For example, I asked him the following questions:

Can you help me find the source for this paper, “Examining Winston Churchill’s leadership style through Blake and Mouton’s executive leadership grid.”

The chatbot outputs seven resources, each with a bullet point explaining what the resource is and why it’s useful.

The only thing you need to be aware of when using ChatGPT as a source is that it won’t be able to access information after 2021, so it won’t be able to suggest the latest sources. However, it’s a start.

4. Use ChatGPT to write a sample essay

It should be noted that if you take the text directly from the chatbot and send it, your work can be considered a form of plagiarism as it is not your original work. As with any information obtained from other sources, any AI-generated text must be clearly identified and incorporated into your work.

In most educational institutions, the penalties for plagiarism are severe, ranging from failing grades to expulsion.

If you want ChatGPT to generate sample text, enter your desired subject and length and watch what it generates. For example, I enter the following text:

Could you write a five paragraph essay on the topic “Examining Winston Churchill’s leadership style through Blake and Mouton’s executive leadership grid”?

Within seconds, the chatbot outputs exactly what you asked for: a coherent five-paragraph essay on the topic that can help you with your own writing.

At this point, it’s worth remembering how tools like ChatGPT work: they put words together in a form they think is statistically correct, but they don’t know if what they’re saying is true or accurate. This means you may discover facts, fictional details, or other oddities. He won’t be able to create original compositions because he’s simply combining everything he’s already absorbed. It may be a useful starting point for your own work, but don’t expect it to be inspiring or accurate.

5. Co-edit your articles using ChatGPT

After writing your own article, you can use ChatGPT’s advanced writing features to edit it for you.

You simply tell the chatbot what you specifically want edited. For example, I let him edit the article structure and grammar, but other options might include flow, tone, etc.

Once you ask him to edit your article, he will prompt you to paste the text into the chatbot. When complete, your article will be corrected. This tool is probably the most useful because it edits your essay more thoroughly than a basic proofreading tool, except for spelling.

You can also co-edit with the chatbot, asking it to look at a specific paragraph or sentence and asking it to rewrite or fix it for clarity.
