Research published in the journal “Sleep Health” concludes that a 30-minute nap during the day can improve brain health and reduce the risk of dementia.

The study, conducted by researchers at University College London and the University of the Republic in Uruguay, performed a total of five cognitive assessments on all study participants, many of them underwent brain MRI and genotyping.

By combining genetic variants, the study found additional genetic tools for napping, with 57% of respondents reporting that they “never/rarely” nap during the day. day, while 38% reported that they “occasionally” nap. and “usually” for the day, respectively.

On average, total brain volume was smaller than those of people who “never/rarely” or “occasionally” took a nap during the day.

Research shows that regular napping can slow brain shrinkage and delay aging by 7 years.
